Going to the cinema is not a very old idea. The first theaters were built not until 1900. Today, the famous cinemas are located in cities like Budapest, Detroit, Bridgeport or Jaipur. The cinemas there are extremely entertaining and known for their hard successes.
Do I always have to go to the cinema just because I want to see the latest movie? Is that really what cinema is all about? Do I want to watch new movies with a growing number of special effects while people drink lemonade and eat popcorn in the ranks of a meticulously planned film industry?
Many of these new blockbuster movies neither make a difference, as I read in blogs and movie magazines. Successful and thoughtful films, as we often read, want to be more than just the best movie in a category. Visionary, however, is the cinema of filmmakers and their ideas of a new cinema.
On Chicago's Woodward Avenue 2211, a movie theater for international films was built and made for some of the largest cinema events in the world. Since its opening in 1928, the Fox Theater, a performing arts center, is an exclusive venue for movie entertainment. The theater was designed and planned by a theater architect. Howard Crane has created a unique idea of a cinema with Burmese decorations, Chinese paintings, Indian sculptures and Persian motifs. This is far more than I need for a movie, as we can see when we walk through the dark corridors of the cinema in the evening.
We fly more than 10 hours on the plane if we want to see the next movies not in Chicago, but in one of the oldest cinemas in Europe. The Uránia cinema in Budapest is old, even very old. The building opened its doors for the first time in 1880 and was for decades the only cinema in Europe to show black-and-white films. The building, once decorated in Oriental and then Venetian Gothic is not just a theater for the latest films. Uránia is a splendid building, but also a popular scene for filmmakers. Many people go to this cinema today to experience an enriched cinematic experience.
There are very different films and filmmakers. Most of the movies are visual stories, others even fantastic narratives. Labyrinth, a film by Jim Henson, is just one step away from a feature film by a talented scriptwriter named Terry Jones. Erik the Viking is a fantasy film unlike many radical and rousing other ideas of authors. However, we see many more features that other authors do not use, some of them on purpose because they seem too traditional or simply cause problems. The film shows opulent buildings and costumes, tells stories and many jokes. With Labyrinth, a mixture of puppet film and animated film, it was possible to gain the necessary attention for the realization of the film. The film, which in addition to many brilliant puppets and clumsy jokes, represents the reality of a girl, but is characterized by the power of own ideas.
Cinemas should show the heights of films. Few theaters provide the necessary and outstanding architecture that allows people to travel the longest distances just to watch a movie. Most movie theaters are modern and do not only tell exciting stories. Screenwriter films are films that can be immense but do not often have the budget. Showing what people really want to question, however, is more common in these films than in blockbusters.
Located 638 miles from Chicago, in the bustling streets of the coastal city of Connecticut, is one of the oldest cinemas in the world. In golden neon-colored words, the Bijou Cinema invites its visitors to an extraordinary cinema experience. The Bijou has an excellent reputation and belongs to a special class of cinemas. The neon lights lead every night directly to the cinema.
Wim Wenders is a screenwriter and also inspires an international audience with his films. The State of Things was written and filmed by Wim Wenders in 1982. When a film crew runs out of money while shooting a sci-fi movie, many bottlenecks and difficulties arise. The film is a multifaceted vision to experience a different cinematic reality. Wim Wenders is often cited as a screenwriter with a sense of cinema as a compelling representation of a fictional world.
But the cinema has not only made many successful evenings in the USA. I'm sitting in an airplane the next minute and am on a 25-hour Jet Airways flight to Jaipur. Jaipur offers many things, but above all, one of the best theaters in India. We went as if in a dream is written on the cinema walls, because we wanted to experience the first appearances of a new entertainment medium. As words do not remain ineffective, the cinema soon became aware in the media. Only there could one get to know a new world with style and elegance. Rajmandir was first an idea and has shown now many films over the years. The cinema was opened in 1976. While other cinemas offer only popcorn, the audience experiences flashes, many scents and colorful flowers.
Movies, that reach far more are often desirable, entertaining with excellent music and perhaps with excellent dialogue, but above all, are screenwriter movies creating a cinema and not just an entertaining movie, inspire for new scenes and should also inspire people for the best.
